  • twelve days of Christmas

My parents told me time would fly one day, and oh how I miss the long wait and anticipation for Christmas that I felt as a kid.  It feels like just a few months or maybe even weeks ago we watched it snow all day last Christmas Eve (I hate cold weather, but that was pretty awesome!).  If anybody knows how to recreate that feeling, the one that you feel Christmas will never come, please share.  I would really appreciate it and I know some others out there would too.

Anyway, on the last day of giveaways this year we (me, Kevin and the boys) decided it would be fun to give away a session next fall, 50 Christmas cards, and a $100 gift certificate.  Please email me to enter at fotobydeedra@aol.com.

Merry Christmas Eve to everyone!  The Christmas cards will be posted on Facebook this year.  To vote on your favorite card, you will need to leave a comment on the card of your choice.  The fanpage is Photo[e]motion.

  • I love this one, so I am sharing (yes, I cried!)

My favorite Christmas present was given to me when I was 7 (I still remember how excited I was).  Growing up we were real close to our neighbors across the street and they were like family to us that we even called them (and still do) Uncle Dave and Aunt Joan.  They would spoil us on Christmas so every Christmas once we were done opening our presents from Santa, we could not wait for them to come over that we would constantly look out the window all day waiting for them to walk across the street.  The later it got the more we would ask our parents to call them to make sure they did not forget.  The best would be watching them walking over and the three of us fighting over who was going to get the big present they were carrying over.  Me being the youngest always figured it would be for my sister or brother.  Well the year I was 7 I watched them carry over presents but in particular this one huge box.  When they put it down in my living room I sneaked at the name and saw that it had my name on it.  When I opened it it was twin Cabbage Patch Kids.  I was so excited two girls in beautiful yellow dresses, wearing fur coats and hats to match and they even had pacifiers in their mouths.  They both had dark brown hair like mine that were in pig tail braids.  One had a dimple and her name was Anna Bell and the other ones name was Hellowese.  I was so excited!!!  My mom was a RN in the ER so every few Holidays she would have to work and that year was her turn.  We went up to the Hospital to have our Christmas dinner in the cafeteria with my mom and I insisted on bringing my two new babies.  I still remember holding one in each arm with such a big smile on my face.

  • number 10

So, on day number 10 what should I give away?  Okay, why not, today I am going to give away a 10×10, nah, that’s not big enough, okay, you twisted my arm, a 20×20 (or 16×20 if you prefer) wrapped canvas!!!!!!  This can be from a past session or from a future session.  But today you have to….let’s see…tell me your favorite Christmas present ever!  Email me at fotobydeedra@aol.com to enter…and my favorite Christmas present ever….

This is pretty hard, but probably the Barbie House my dad made (yes, built himself) for me in about 1970 something.  It was way better than the Barbie Dream House.  3 Stories, real carpet and wallpaper too!  Loved it.  Wish I still had it to share with my nieces.  Yip, I was a Barbie girl.  I loved them!  But for some reason I always cut their hair off and then I needed new ones.  I was also a huge fan of the Barbie Jeep.  Okay your turn..happy Wednesday everybody.

  • #9 givin’s better n’ gettin’

Good morning.  Today I am going to be cleaning out the boys’ rooms and giving away and getting rid of some serious stuff!  Anybody need anything boy related?  Just some random thoughts.  Mav looks like he grew a foot last night (must be his new haircut).  He was feeling #22 this morning, so Heather Mc. is the winner of the extended family shoot.  Family must come first for all of you too, because yesterday was the biggest # of entries I have received so far this year for the 12 Days Giveaways.

Now let’s get down to it, so I can get in those nasty rooms!  Today I want you to email me a friend’s email address you want to give some pictures too.  The winner will get a free session and free 8×10, 5×7, and 4×6 print, and I will sign your name to the gift.  Make sure the email is correct!!!!!  fotobydeedra@aol.com  Yes, you can enter more than one friend, but they all have to be separate emails.

As soon as I get this house cleaned up I will start blogging some of the missed pics/shoots and the two weddings.  Don’t forget the Christmas card contest too coming up soon too!
